Dear all,
All of you would know about the floods that have been affecting several parts of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telengana and AP. Many cities upwards of Hubli, Dharwad going all the way up to Sangli in MH and beyond are affected heavily.
Uttaradi Math at Hubballi, Kolhapur and Miraj are already providing shelter to a large number of families and food is also provided. Any UM branch that is within reach from the affected places and is itself not under water is open for shelter. Also various VMMP branches (Vishwa Madhwa Maha Parishat) and SriRamsevaparishat(Hubballi)are operating Ganji kendras where they visit low lying areas and are offering food packets to stranded people. In many other small towns food distribution to stranded people is happening with initiatives of UM volunteers locally. All the above started as soon as it was physically possible to provide emergency relief. There are some towns which are not yet contactable and we are trying hard to connect with all affected places.

Immediate requirements:
Each UM branch providing shelter needs close to 200 sleeping mats (chapae), 200 sweaters and 200 bedsheets. Groceries are needed. Emergency medicines are also needed. Ideal is for these branches to purchase the items locally, because it is tough to transport them from far off, due to non accessibility.

Some materials can be transported from Bengaluru to a few places but not to all places. Following items can be reached to Jayateertha Vidyapeetha, UM, besides SBI ATM, opposite to National College grounds, Basavanagudi, Bangalore. Please ensure that they are packed well so that repacking can be avoided. The following are in addition to sleeping mats, bedsheets and sweaters that are needed.

f. Biscuits, dry foods, tetra packs

Currently we are providing 'emergency relief' via food and shelter. Once waters recede and we assess the impact all across, rehabilitation related seva will be taken up. There will be seva opportunities at that time and we will publish the same later. As Shri Satyatma Theertha Sripadangalavaru keeps mentioning in his pravachanas, please do prayers and special parayanas for the welfare of all affected people.
